How We Score

Every review on PlayVerdict has a score from 0 to 10, shown as a coloured ring next to the review. This page explains what those numbers mean.

Our score scale

  • 9.0 – 10 · Outstanding: A must-play. One of the best in its genre, with very few flaws.
  • 8.0 – 8.9 · Great: Easy to recommend. Excellent overall, with some small issues.
  • 7.0 – 7.9 · Good: Worth playing if you like the genre. Clear strengths, but noticeable weaknesses.
  • 5.0 – 6.9 · Average: Has some fun moments, but significant problems hold it back.
  • Below 5.0 · Poor: Hard to recommend. Serious problems outweigh the positives.

The ring colour follows the same scale: green for 8.0 and above, amber for 5.0 to 7.9, and red below 5.0.

What we look at

  • Gameplay: Is it fun, deep and well designed?
  • Presentation: Visuals, sound, music and overall polish.
  • Performance: How well it runs, especially on common phones and PCs in Malaysia.
  • Value: What you get for the price or time you put in.
  • Fairness: For free-to-play games, how aggressive the monetisation is, and whether paying gives an unfair advantage.

Apps

For apps, we focus on usefulness, ease of use, reliability, privacy and value instead of gameplay.

Scores are not averages

We do not calculate scores with a formula. A game with amazing gameplay but average visuals can still score very high. The final score reflects our overall recommendation.

Live games and updates

Online games change over time. When a game receives major updates that change our opinion, we may update the review and score. Updated reviews show the latest information in the text.
